In the early 1600's, the Lenni Lenape
Indians visited this area each summer to fish,
relax and cool off on these beaches.
By 1870 a
small group of Swedish fisherman had discovered
the beauty of the area and the bounty of the
sea, and built homes on the northern end of the
island. They named their settlement Anglesea.
Today this tiny quaint fishing village has grown
into a beautiful and exciting island resort,
still beckoning visitors to return each summer
to fish, relax and cool off on their beaches.
